the wonders of a neti pot

Whenever I overdo, my pregnant body lets me know I need to take it easy. So, after a very full last week - celebrating Memorial Day on Monday, Blake's bday on Tuesday, catching up on laundry on Wednesday, errand-running on Thursday, more laundry + ironing on Friday, & preparing Sunday's talk in between - I'm now fighting a head cold. Normally, I wouldn't mind popping the cold meds, but especially since I'm in my 1st trimester, I had to get creative. At first I thought I would just buy some nasal drops, but then I remembered my neti pot - which I bought during my pregnancy with Jacob because my allergies were so terrible.

In two days I have gone from totally and completely congested - we're talkin' can't-breath-through-your-nose-at-all congestion - to semi-congested.

Wow. This thing is great!

p.s. there are a ton of You-Tube how-to's. In case you're wondering how it works.

Wow. Isn't it freaky? I just don't think I could do it.

I'm glad it works for you!

This is HILLARIOUS, because I had a massive cold three days ago, horrible. I am not one who likes to dope up on tons of medication, so I went out and bought a neti pot. It grosses me out, and I don't like the way it feels, but I LOVE IT! We have quite the relationship neti and I.

So as I am using it, I was thinking to myself "self, this will come in handy if you get pregnant again, because you have some wicked allergies everytime you get pregnant. Self I think you made a good purchase."

Amazing little thing!

I just got caught up on all the happenings on your blog! Congrats on the new baby. I am very happy for you! Second, well said on the last two posts! I have been feeling those exact things about having another baby! Although it took Adam and I a very long time to get pregnant (and my children are my most precious things ever), I don't think I could even handle another one right now! But, as always, you remind me that the Lord knows what best for each of us! Oh, and I LOVE the neti pot!!

Wow! Neti-pot, huh? Learn something new everyday!

I read your other posts, too. Hope you're hanging in there! My sister in law had 4 kids & 3 of those kids were born in the month of October a year a part from each other. She doesn't even like to joke about being pregnant, anymore. I think the emotional roller coaster ride is always worse during the first trimester...maybe in the last, too. I can't remember. All I know is that I'm currently in Trimester 2 & I feel so much more able to handle being pregnant & eveything that may come with it now than I was just a month ago. hahah. Mitch is grateful, too, because I'm a bit more rational lately.

There's some sort of reason that this earth life includes the stipulation that we must "bear children in sorrow." We couldn't feel the joy if we didn't experience the suffering & sacrifice that goes with bearing children. And the joy that comes makes the sacrifice worth it, but that doesn't mean it's easy! Congratulations on expecting baby #3!!!!
